During the course of my career, I’ve had the opportunity to partner with founder CEOs on several occasions, as investor, board member, and/or executive. In all cases, these individuals have been brilliant, knowledgeable, visionary, charismatic, and tireless.
Despite these strengths, their organizations have struggled to scale, and in a few instances have been sold, or folded up. All are situational of course, but some patterns emerge, both positive and negative.
