DESCRIPTION:

In today`s hypercompetitive business world, established firms are facing disruptive innovations

(technological and/or business model) initiated by newcomers resulting in dramatic market shifts. Lack of ability to design an appropriate strategy  to respond to these disruptive innovations led top Fortune firms (e.g., Kodak, Xerox, Blockbuster, Nokia, and many others) to file bankruptcy with many of them to close their doors forever. Thus, one of the biggest challenge for leaders of incumbent firms is how to respond to such innovations.

Our interactive session will help leaders to first get a better understanding of the disruptive innovation phenomena and then focus on the firm`s human, tangible and non-tangible resources to help them to navigate among different strategic options and select the best response to disruptive innovation.

In this session you will:

  • Gain a better understanding of innovation and disruptive innovation;
  • Understand why organizational capabilities of most incumbents fail to support developing disruptive

    innovation;

  • Identify conventional strategic options to respond to a disruptive innovation;
  • Recognize the importance of human, tangible and intangible resources in designing a strategic response to a disruptive innovation.
