PRESENTER BIO(s):

Committed to advancing people and organizations through culture and leadership, Lorne Rubis was recently invited to join Alberta’s NorQuest College as Chief Culture & Transformation Officer. His role is to help NorQuest thrive in the midst of the disruption impacting Alberta’s post-secondary education.

Prior to a brief retirement, Lorne was at ATB Financial. He joined as Chief People Officer in 2012, with the mandate to make ATB “The Place to Work”. During his tenure, ATB became widely recognized as one of the top companies to work for in North America.

Lorne was awarded the 2018 Canadian LifeTime Achievement Award for contributions to the Human Resource community and advancing the workplace. It is awarded annually by the Ivey Academy, The Ivey School of Business, and HRD Magazine. He is a member of the Institute of Corporate Directors, a Director on the Board of FortisAlberta Inc., a member of Covenant Health's Board Innovation committee and a mentor with www.unreasonablegroup.com.

Lorne and his wife Kathleen (his high school prom date) divide their time between residences in Alberta, British Columbia, Washington and have an everyday mission to remotely connect with their 3 adult children and four grands who now live in the US and UK. They all gather whenever they can at the Rubis family vineyard in Naramata BC.
