About the Transition Networking Group

SCNetwork has a networking group for members undergoing career transition seeking work/their next opportunity.  This is a service made possible by one of our Corporate Sponsors – Verity International (www.verityintl.com).  Verity provides the meeting space, the facilitators, and refreshments.

The group is led and facilitated by Gary Fryatt, Vice President at Verity.  To join the group and/or to find out more information, contact Dawn Simpson at dsimpson@verityintl.com.

The meetings are held every other Friday at Verity’s Toronto office.  The time of the meeting is 9:00am to 10:30am.

The address of Verity’s office is:

200 King Street West, Suite 1301, Toronto (Northwest corner of University and King Streets, at the St. Andrew subway station). Phone: 416-862-8422.

Detailed description of Transition Networking Group

    Objective:

To support SCNetwork members undergoing career transition in their job search by offering regular facilitated networking meetings.

    Parameters:

In addition to members without career transition services, those with such services are also invited to participate.

The group must be large enough on an ongoing basis to be effective as a group and not to evolve into one-to-one support.

Discussions are focused on the activity of the participants themselves. They share what they have been up to in the marketplace (keeping details confidential as they feel they need to), focusing on the process, what is working, what isn’t, what they have learned, opportunities they have uncovered that might be of interest to others in the group. They also share their job search plans and objectives for the next two weeks and solicit assistance from others in the group on facilitating introductions to people or organizations with whom they are looking to connect.

Though positioned as networking itself (vs. a seminar about networking), the process will generate topics in regard to both the basics and fine points of networking to which the facilitator (and others in the group) will offer specific advice.
