HUMAN RESOURCE LEADERS IN TRANSITION (HRLT): THE RIGHT WAY TO FIND YOUR NEW/NEXT LEADERSHIP ROLE
“Leadership transitions are more frequent, yet new leaders get little help”, according to this 2018 McKinsey article. At HRLT, we couldn’t agree more.
SCNetwork’s HRLT Group was started by transition consultants from Miller Davis 15 years ago, whose objective was to boost senior HR executives’ job search with supportthat go beyond what transition consultants could provide.
At the HRLT, we understand that career transition for senior leaders is a process that can take anywhere from 12 to 18 to 24 months. Our purpose is to inform your career transition process with the intelligence and care it needs, for as long as it takes.
From our members, you will get valuable information about what is happening in the marketplace, who has the jobs, what jobs are out there, and “hot off the press” intel about the companies that are hiring.
You will also learn how to share your network so you can broaden your ability to reach out and meet more people, and to find those individuals who might be able to give you a leg up in your job exploration.
HRLT is where 20-25 senior HR executives and entrepreneurs meet regularly to find the next challenging leadership opportunity, in their career or business path.

Should you join?
To join us you MUST be a member of SCNetwork. You would also have held a title at the Director level or above, in your last HR role.
Whether it’s an HR team, HR division, HR for a Canadian or global organization, if you have experience in leading within the HR function, the HRLT is the peer support group you need to join, to land your next big HR role!
For example, if you’re a director of HR leading a division within a company where you’re responsible for all aspects of HR, looking to launch into your next HR challenge, you’ve come to the right place!
Members of HRLT are innovative thinkers who come from across all industries/sectors and have led strategic and operational HR roles.
Members of SCNetwork’s CHRO Peer Forum, who are currently in career transition can also apply to join the HRLT. However, you do not have to be a member of SCNetwork’s CHRO Peer Forum to be a member of HRLT.
Who sponsors our meetings?
LHH Knightsbridge, a valued corporate sponsor of SCNetwork, kindly offers us their space for our meetings.
When and where do we meet?
We meet bi-weekly on Mondays from 1:30 – 3:30 pm.
What is the format of HRLT meetings?
Members of our group rotate to chair the meeting responsibilities, giving everyone a chance to lead our sessions. This entails duties such as chairing meetings, drafting the meeting agenda and minutes etc.
Our meetings begin by introducing any new members. We then celebrate successes of any members who have landed a new role, followed by a round table where each of us provides a status report of their search (what’s working, what’s not). We make suggestions on how to move the search forward and offer resources and guidance to better the search. We also share job leads. At some meetings, we invite guest speakers whose insights may be valuable in enhancing our members’ job search.
We conclude our meetings by setting aside time to hear from members who have a particular “ask”.
What’s our vetting process?
After receiving your request to join the HRLT, one of our current and active members will contact you to schedule a meeting and discuss your fit for the group.
What we expect from our members?
We expect our members to be transparent about their backgrounds, to share their networks, be positive and supportive of each other, and attend our meetings on a regular basis. We will make an exception only if you’re absent due to a job interview or a family emergency.
Human connection is becoming vital, as job searches get tougher and more emotional. Therefore, we stress that our meetings are best experienced in-person versus dialing-in.
You will also:
